The Chinese Australian Forum (CAF) has been named the winner of the 2026 Multicultural Not-for-Profit Medal, recognising its longstanding contribution to civic participation, community engagement and multicultural inclusion in New South Wales.
The award was presented at the 2026 Premier’s Harmony Dinner on 26th March, hosted by Premier Chris Minns and Minister for Multiculturalism Steve Kamper. According to Multicultural NSW, more than 1,600 guests attended the flagship celebration of cultural diversity, which recognised community leaders driving social cohesion and harmony across the state.

The evening also included a dedicated tribute to the 15 lives lost in December’s tragic Bondi attack. Ahmed Al Ahmed, one of the heroes during the attack, appeared on stage and was honoured with a Community Hero Award for his selfless acts of bravery.
Minister for Multiculturalism Steve Kamper said:“The Multicultural Medals recognise the individuals and organisations who quietly make an extraordinary difference in our communities. Their dedication really does enrich the lives of people across New South Wales.”

The Multicultural Community Medals recognised 13 individuals and organisations for their outstanding contributions to social cohesion. Among this year’s recipients, CAF was named the winner of the Multicultural Not-for-Profit Medal, reflecting its continued commitment to strengthening civic awareness, community voice and cross-cultural understanding.
Established in 1985, CAF has worked for four decades to support Chinese Australians in engaging with Australia’s democratic processes and public life. Its work has helped strengthen community voice, foster cross-cultural dialogue and build connections between communities and institutions.
CAF’s recognition as the 2026 Multicultural Not-for-Profit Medal winner reflects its continued commitment to advocating for the Chinese Australian community, promoting civic awareness and contributing to a more inclusive and cohesive multicultural Australia. Read more here.
