22 Nov 2007 - Where is the National Telly Room and what's it like?
I was in Canberra for a pre Xmas function and was fortunate to witness the historical event. The National Telly Room was situated at the race course building coverted into the National Telly Room. Many of you only watched what went on the telly with TV commentators and pollies analysing the results as they came in from the booths across the country. But outside the National Telly Room building was different. By the time I got there late that nite, the car park was still full and the crowd was in good mood, with some drinking and very cheerful. Certainly they were mostly Labor supporters
( being public servants). The que was long and when told that it'll take an hour to get in, I gave it a miss. Some of the pics of the crowd are a attached, including condition of entry.

The Chinese Australian Forum also met with Leader of the Family First, Senator Fielding this

beyond comprehension.

Chinese Swing Towards McKew

Racism's Ugly Face
Think again next time you let a slur go unchallenged.
I WAS at a smart party with a bunch of people I hadn't seen for years. Suddenly there was a yelp at my elbow. Fabulous Miss C, tanned to the gills, absolutely cured. She'd also done something to her face. "I hear you're living out at Springvale now. P told me. She said there aren't any dogs out there, because the chinks have eaten them all." And off she went into a squealing peal of laughter. It's a long time since I heard someone say "chinks" and make a joke like that. I told her that what she said was ridiculous, that of course there are dogs in Springvale, hundreds of them. I should have also told her she was revoltingly racist, that talk like that is not acceptable. But I did not.
