CAF and UTS present "CHINESE IN AUSTRALIAN POLITICS"

Venue: Emperor’s Garden Restaurant, 96-100 Hay Street

Tickets: $25 / $15 for full time students and persons over 65

The Chinese Australian Forum (CAF) and the University of Technology: China and Cosmopolitan Civil Societies Research Centres will proudly host a seminar on the role of “Chinese in Australian Politics.”

CAF President Tony Pang said that the seminar would bring together some of the eminent members of the Chinese community who have had experience holding public office in Australia.

“CAF recently hosted Senator Penny Wong at our Annual Dinner and we are now backing this up by bringing together well-known Chinese politicians to discuss the role of the Chinese in Australian politics,” Mr Pang said.

Mr Pang said the speakers would include:

·         Cr Justin Li (Ryde)

·         Cr Marc Receretnam (Ashfield)

·         Cr Lo Jieh-Yung (City of Monash)

·         Cr Henson Liang (Burwood)

·         Dr Peter Wong (former NSW MLC and Founder of the Unity Party)

·         Mr Francis Lee (media) and

·         Prof Wanning Sun (UTS)

“This seminar will address the effectiveness of Chinese politicians in Australia,” Mr Pang said.

“CAF also welcomes the presence of Professor Stephen Fitzgerald, former Ambassador to China as chairperson for this seminar.

“ It will be an opportunity for the community to analyse and critique their involvement and their strategies.”
