Funds for play on racial harrassment

The Chinese Australian Forum has announced it will provide $5, 000 in seeding funds for a play focusing on the issue of racial-harassment at schools.

Directing the play will be Jon-Claire Lee, Director of the Sydney Talent Company and a former president of the CAF.

Mr Lee, who has an impressive backlog of artistic work including appearances in movies (Muriel’s Wedding), television shows (All Saints, Sea Patrol) and live performances, presented his idea to the CAF Management committee early in the year.

After seeing the merit of Mr Lee’s idea, the CAF Management committee were happy to release the funds to kick-start the play.

CAF is currently campaigning to raise awareness about racial harassment and bullying in schools, sparked off by a court case a few years ago.

Schools, education officials and politicians will all be invited to watch the play, in the hope that it provides an insight into the problem of bullying in schools in NSW.

More info will be published as it happens, but for some background on Jon-Claire Lee and the Sydney Talent Company, click here.
