State Opposition meets CAF
Representatives from the Chinese Australian Forum and other Chinese community groups met with Leader of the State Opposition Barry O’Farrell and Shadow Minister for Citizenship Anthony Roberts at NSW Parliament House today.
The meeting was held informally and was an opportunity for community leaders to meet the NSW Liberal leader and some of his team.
The State Opposition had met with the leaders of the Italian community the previous week.
CAF President Tony Pang led a contingent of six strong to Macquarie Street and was positive about the meeting.
“The Chinese Australian Forum is a non-partisan organization; we have dialogue with Government but we also have dialogue with the Opposition,” Mr Pang said.
“Our main aim is for our voice to be heard; the Chinese community have issues which need to be discussed.”
Mr Pang said he hoped at the next opportunity there would be more of a chance to discuss issues such as racial discrimination of Asian children at schools in NSW.
